Sketching Pencils

We should never forget what we owe to the sketching pencil.  It has served us through many years of learning and through many years of art homework, so never forget when you’re splashing out on all of those colourful, wonderful pencils just where it all began.

There’s an excellent selection of graphite pencil brands available including Staedtler, Derwent and Conté with individual pencils and pencil sets for not very much monies at all.  Carbon and charcoal pencils also offer a slightly less messy alternative to working with compressed and willow charcoal or sticks of carbon, preventing the infamous fingerprinting problem that has plagued lovers of charcoal and carbon for years, and allow for finer detail and more linear drawings to be achieved thanks to the pencils’ ability to be sharpened.
