Palettes

Whatever you’re painting, you’re not going to get very far without a mixing palette!  But we’re guessing that’s why you’re here, so we’ll just get on with explaining what mixing palettes we’ve got then shall we?

There’s plenty of palettes to choose from which are made from a variety of materials and will suit a variety of paint types, but generally speaking wooden palettes are great for oil, alkyd and acrylic colour, acrylic and other plastic palettes are ideal for acrylic, gouache and watercolour, ceramic palettes are best for gouache and watercolour and tear-off palettes are perfect for oil, alkyd and acrylic colour.  Phew!

There’s plenty of sizes available, not to mention some with the little holes to put your thumb through so that you can be practical and look the part.
