Painting Mediums

Painting mediums are a wonderful invention.  If you’ve ever got pretty sick of how your paints feel straight out of the tube, then you know that painting mediums can add a touch of freshness to your painting and almost completely change the look of your painting.

There are so many mediums we don’t know where to begin, but mediums are available that can alter the drying time, alter the consistency and alter the finish of your paints, which seems to be the simplest way we can explain the vast possibilities! 

There are mediums that can be used with every type of paint we have including oil, acrylic, watercolour and gouache, and include products from top of the range brands such as Winsor & Newton, Daler Rowney, Golden and Liquitex to name but a few!

The best thing to do is just experiment, as there’s no better way of finding out what a painting medium does than trying it for yourself!
