It’s that time again folks, time for us to clear out our old stock at low low prices, and have a little bit of a party at the same time. Last year’s yard sale was a great success, and we had plenty of exciting stalls and tables for people to browse through at the yard outisde Artstore at the Artschool, in the Haldane Building, Rose Street, We’d like to keep it going this year and offer students a space to sell some work, or old materials they won’t need again next year! We’ll have a selection of things to browse, and more information nearer the time.
If you would like to grab a space, please email artschool@artstore.co.uk or pop in to the Artschool shop and let us know!
We recently caught up with the winners of our Artstore funded group exhibition to talk to them about their Soundscaping project. The group were chosen from a wide array of entries from Glasgow School of Art students by a panel of Judges involved in Artstore and other curation and exhibition projects. The project involved large structures with inbuilt speakers playing submitted sounds from contributors across the globe. They gathered together this palette of sound with an open call through various online platforms such as Creative Scotland and Central Station, and the audience were invited to participate in the installation by moving the structures and physically affecting the soundscape. We spoke to the artists involved about their experiences and whether Artstore’s involvement has helped them to develop their ideas and become more ambitious with future projects.
Journal of Student Practice Postponed Due To Project Expansion
We both regret and are pleased to inform you that we are postponing the Journal of Student Practice until the next academic year.
We apologise for all those who applied and will keep your submissions in consideration.
The reason we have decided to postpone is because we would like to expand the outreach of this journal so as to provide the students of the Glasgow School of Art with the best possible opportunity. We are currently researching different host venues/platforms to take this Journal out of Glasgow and possibly even out of the U.K.
Please check back this summer for more information. We will post the developments on our blog.
