Last night we attended yet another outstanding show put on by the talented students of Cardonald College. The digital media exhibition was lucky enough to be hosted by the inspiring Creative Hub Digital Design Centre at Glasgows Pacific Quay, and we think this is fitting location for a college show of this calibre.
All students and tutors involved should be commended for the depth of creative talent and professionalism of the overall presentation. Although the quality and creativity of the work produced by Cardonald has never been in doubt, it’s no surprise that the College has finally been given the opportunity to run a Degree level course. Their BA in Creative Industries Practice will begin next term.
The show as a whole was a pleasure to attend, however there were a few exceptional students that caught both our attention and imagination. Jason Aitcheson, displayed a clear passion for type and presented some striking posters titled “imagining things” and “cutting edge architecture”, whilst Sam Bell’s poster titled “Swatch” was simply breathtaking and deserves to be referred to as a work of art.
We were also very impressed by Geraldine Traynor’s retro packaging and “Glasgow Film Theatre” poster which were a joy to behold and delighted to see some top-notch photography from the college’s higher students.
The show runs until the 10th of June and is a must for anyone looking to spend a few hours being inspired and entertained by a first class art exhibition.
